Just a few worthwhile events to attend , to support or to volunteer at.
Litter pick Hardgate Knowes Sunday 13th April between 10.00am and 2.00 pm
Meeting in Whitehill Hotel car park – Opposite Tesco.
This has been arranged by Clydebelt in conjunction with Keep Scotland Beautiful and W. D. Council. Prior to the building of the Faifley Housing scheme and the infilling of some of the old quarries,
the Knowes were considered a local beauty spot and used for picnics and Sunday School trips.
Several environmental improvements have been done over the years and the most recent was an upgrade of some paths under the Community Payback scheme
The Knowes are listed in Local Plans as a prospective Local Nature Reserve (LNR) an aspiration still to be achieved.
For several years we have collected large amounts of litter but never had enough volunteers to do all that was required. Please come along, even for a short time, and give us your support.
Litter pick Bowling Foreshore to the Saltings 28th April 2 pm near Magic Cycles Bowling Basin run by the Marine Conservation Society
This area has received a tremendous amount of debris washed up by the recent high tides and high winds as well as that left behind by the mindless few. The area around Bowling Canal Basin is currently under review by Scottish Canals as part of an overall scheme to improve the area. The Saltings is WDC’s only Local Nature Reserve.
Lang Craigs Tree Planting Overtoun Dumbarton Sat 17th May 11am – 3pm
Why not join the Woodland Trust at their free final tree planting day in West Dunbartonshire.
In a relatively short time the Woodland Trust have planted the former Maryland Farm with 200,000 trees. This event will see the final trees planted.
They would love you to join them to help finish planting their new native woodland at Lang Craigs and enjoy the breath-taking landscape of the Kilpatrick Hills.

Meet at West Dunbartonshire Council Office car Park, Garshake Road G82 3LG.
A minibus will transport you to the planting site. There will be free child friendly activities and refreshments for all volunteers.

Please wear warm clothes and sturdy footwear.
Children under 16 must be accompanied by an adult.
Dogs are welcome on leads.

Hessilhead Wildlife Rescue Centre Gateside Beith KA15 1HT
Hessilhead are having an open day on Sunday 8th June between 12-4pm when , in addition to seeing the wide range of care being provided for injured and orphaned wildlife, there will be stalls and games, test your skill or try your luck. Stalls include plants, bric a brac, cakes, books, bottle and tombola. There will be activities and entertainment for children too.

There was a reasonable response to our plea for renewal of membership, but there is still a majority who have not yet responded and, we assume that they are no longer wanting to be members and give us their support (?)_ All those with whom we had only contact by post and did not respond have already been deleted from our lists. Similarly those currently on our email list who have not yet confirmed that they want to remain members will also be removed from our lists in the near future.
Renewal of membership is a minimum donation of £5 per household -- cheques made out to Clydebelt, with particulars and email if possible, can be sent to ELIZABETH PITTS, FAIRHILLS, STATION ROAD, OLD KILPATRICK G60 5LT Hopefully , we should not need to be another request for funds for several years.
